Reports of a Leeds United transfer as Brendan Rodgers decides on a…
Matt O’Riley’s manager at Celtic, Brendan Rodgers, has stated that the Danish midfielder would not be moved this month, even after the club turned down an approach from Atletico Madrid. The 23-year-old was being pursued by Leeds United, but Rodgers claims he will remain in Glasgow.
“There was that, but Matt is a player we want to keep, and he won’t be leaving in January,” stated Rodgers. It’s a fantastic endorsement of him and what the team can accomplish for a player. This season, he earned his first cap for his country, and Atletico Madrid is a well-known team in European football.
However, he plays a significant role in what we are doing. I had a nice conversation with Matt this morning, and he is someone who will be there for us in the second half of the season. He has been a pleasure to deal with.”
If Leeds United intensifies their pursuit of Burnley’s Manuel Benson, they may have to contend with Ipswich Town, their rivals for promotion. Ipswich and Birmingham City are reportedly in the running for the 26-year-old winger.
Benson, who can play all across the front line, has been firmly linked to the Whites, albeit they would have competition for his signing.
