It looks as though Jimmy Garoppolo’s time with the Las Vegas Raiders is done due to his latest PED incident.
It appears that the Raiders had already considered releasing the struggling quarterback, and the news that he had tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs was the tipping point.
That Las Vegas will take such a strong and desperate stance on Jimmy G is still uncertain. The 32-year-old may have already played his final game wearing a Raiders uniform, though.
Is Jimmy Garoppolo’s Future With the Los Angeles Raiders in Question?
Peter King, a knowledgeable analyst, has offered his thoughts on the situation surrounding Garoppolo.
The league insider is now speculating as to whether any team will be open to signing the divisive quarterback should he decide to leave Las Vegas:
“Obviously, I believe Jimmy Garoppolo’s two-game PED ban will have a negative impact on his quarterbacking career.
Nobody will feel sorry for a man who, according to overthecap.com, has made $148.8 million in a great but overvalued career,
but what club will risk starting him this offseason knowing he will miss the first two games? Pittsburgh, perhaps? King penned.
It’s funny that you mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers. I suppose King is subtly conveying how dire Pittsburgh’s quarterback position is going into the upcoming campaign.
Kings also notes that there are reports that the Steelers want to start training camp with their two quarterbacks from the last campaign—Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett—instead of trying to sign a new quarterback.
King thinks that the front office would have made a “colossal misjudgment” in doing this.
Even with all of his shortcomings, Garoppolo could be Pittsburgh’s best choice.
