Mick Lombardi, a former offensive coordinator for the Raiders, has joined the 49ers coaching staff.
Coach Kyle Shanahan stated that he is not yet officially recognized by any title. Lombardi was formerly employed with the 49ers from 2013 till 2016.
Mick Lombardi may provide an offensive lift for the 49ers.
Although Lombardi’s time with the Raiders wasn’t great, they had him as their offensive coordinator for a purpose.
Lombardi was one of the league’s fastest-rising assistant coaches before that position, and in 2024 he will try to restore his reputation by assisting the 49ers’ already excellent offense in reaching new heights.
Although Lombardi’s official position is still unknown, it seems likely that he will be called upon to assist on the offensive end of the court considering his skill there.
It’s evident that Shanahan wants to elevate the coaches he works with, so it will be intriguing to watch if Lombardi’s return brings the desired outcomes for San Francisco.
