Multiple league sources have stated that the Pittsburgh Steelers are interested in signing Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. Pittsburgh has looked into a possible deal for Fields after trading their young quarterback, Kenny Pickett, to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday.
Several reports have characterized Fields’ NFL market as “lukewarm,” and Chicago’s assessment of Fields’ fair price is what separates them from most teams’ offers at this time. Since the NFL Combine, Pittsburgh has discussed or shown initial interest in a possible trade for Fields, but the asking price was too high.
Despite only signing a one-year contract, Russell Wilson intends to stay with the Steelers for a long time.
Despite signing a short-term contract, Wilson stated in a video interview with the Steelers’ club website on Friday that he doesn’t see his agreement as a one-and-done stop.
“It’s a long-term objective,” Wilson, 35, emphasized. I am thrilled about the prospect of living in Pittsburgh for an extended period of time.
Before everything broke this past season, the false platitudes had only gotten worse over the years. Now was the time to take action and send a strong statement.
Maybe general manager Omar Khan took the initiative, maybe it was an instruction from owner Art Rooney II, or maybe Tomlin finally realized that his corny joke about volunteers not hostages wasn’t working without repercussions. Regardless, the club’s actions this week indicate that the old maxim has been modified to “Join the team or leave—but with serious consequences this time.”
Those that wish to be a part of the team have taken the position of malcontents. Goodbye if you’ve decided not to join the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since the 2023 season ended, there have been several instances of this occurring within the organization.
