Ex-Pro Bowl wide receiver confirms the Ravens’ exit
Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to leave the Ravens in free agency following his one-year contract, according to reports from earlier this month. Through an Instagram post, the former Pro Bowl wide receiver stated that will indeed be the case.
Part of his statement says, “Swea on everything, I appreciate the Flock more than all could EVER imagine.” “Made the most of the opportunity I was given. I wish I could have done it well for you all.
According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the Ravens reworked Beckham’s contract, making it a one-year agreement with a $15 million guarantee. Beckham was then released with a post-June 1 designation. That action reinforced the notion that his time in Baltimore would be a one-time event. The 31-year-old is now going to focus on free agency once more.
Due to his ACL tear, Beckham missed the entire 2022 season. The NFL created a lot of buzz last spring about him being available on the free market. He signed a more lucrative contract with the Ravens in the end than many anticipated, considering the dearth of suitors Baltimore had to choose from. Nonetheless, the Jets expressed interest in Beckham last season, and they might be a team to keep an eye on going forward.
In his brief tenure with the Rams before tearing his ACL, the Super Bowl winner showed signs of being a high-end producer. In 2023, Beckham played in 14 games and finished with a 35-565-3 stat line while maintaining a largely healthy body. With a new team that offers a short-term contract, in particular, he could emerge as a secondary receiving option despite having the best yards per catch average of his career (16.1).
Due to the abundance of highly-regarded draft prospects at wide receiver, many of the best wide receiver possibilities in the 2024 class are already signed, and many veterans may choose to wait to sign for the time being. Next month, Baltimore will be keeping an eye out for a new acquisition to offer depth to their pass-catching group, as they already have Nelson Agholor, Rashod Bateman, and Zay Flowers on their roster. But in 2024, Beckham won’t be a member of that group.
