It’s not shocking that Caleb Foster will miss the entire NCAA tournament, but it’s still unfortunate.
Foster’s season was over, according to Duke, who made the announcement on Thursday. They cited a stress fracture as the cause.
He also had a respectable first year. Foster first gained notoriety when he shot 7-8 and destroyed Michigan State for eighteen points. Among those, four were threes.
More significantly, though, was that Foster led the squad well in Tyrese Proctor’s absence after Proctor was hurt.
Without Foster, Duke’s rotation suffered at both ends. In addition to being a fantastic point guard, he is a strong defender and offers Duke additional alternatives. He is 6-5 like Proctor, which makes the perimeter defense extremely difficult. Without him, Duke has adjusted, but it’s a loss.
It’s important to note that Jon Scheyer had serious injuries in his first two seasons, but the Blue Devils have still been successful.
