Nick Sirianni: We have a dynamic player in Saquon Barkley who adds a new dimension to our offense…………………………….
The Eagles have had two separate 1,000-yard rushers in the last two seasons in D’Andre Swift and Miles Sanders, but since LeSean McCoy, they haven’t had a standout player at the position. Now that they signed Saquon Barkley, they have that.
Over the previous two seasons combined, the former Giants running back amassed 2,892 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns.
According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni expressed his excitement for Saquon and his potential on Sunday. “You are aware of how dynamic a football player he is. In terms of his abilities as a pass receiver as well as his running back capabilities. He will add something to our team and our offensive.
As much as we see him, everything from the highlights on the film to, as far as I can tell, all of our research, he’s a good team player and leader. It is incredibly significant to be able to incorporate it into our locker room in addition to the playmaking skills.
“How many times have I played him twice this past year, three times the year before, and twice the year before while watching him from the other sidelines? It’s like, “Man, that guy is on our team, which makes him even more perfect,” and we don’t have to play against him anymore.
We have had the opportunity to view him up close, so that’s amazing. We are already aware of his skill as a football player.
After attending Penn State for both his college education and high school education, 27-year-old Barkley is returning to his former haunts.
