Tennessee Health Care Josh Heupel talks about the media’s elevated expectations for quarterback Nico Iamaleava………………………………….
Although Nico Iamaleava, the quarterback for the Tennessee Vols, has only started one game in college, the former five-star prospect is nonetheless getting some Heisman buzz in front of the 2024 campaign.
Iamaleava has a strong recruitment rating and a rich NIL agreement, thus he is expected to perform well as the Vols’ starting quarterback this autumn.
For some young players, high expectations can be difficult to live up to. Josh Heupel, the head coach of the Vols, doesn’t anticipate that to be the case with Iamaleava, mostly because Iamaleava has higher standards for himself than what others think of him.
Heupel stated this past week on The Nation that “everyone’s got extremely high expectations of him outside the building.” “We also do inside the building. Most importantly, he doesn’t have any bigger aspirations than any of those.
However, he is able to report to work each and every day, and in the end, that’s what makes you become the player that you can be. He is therefore racing to arrive there as soon as possible. For him, this spring will be crucial as he continues to develop and acquire the skills necessary to play the position with tremendous efficiency.”
When your internal expectations exceed your external expectations, managing high expectations becomes lot simpler.
Iamaleava is aware that in 2024, everyone will be keeping a close eye on him. But rather than concentrating on that, he aims to get better every day in order to help the Vols make their first-ever College Football Playoff berth.
