The goal for Kalani Sitake and his BYU football squad as they head into the offseason is to improve the Cougars’ standing in the Big 12 by adding more experience, depth, and strength and conditioning philosophy to the club. Does it have a dividend policy? After a disappointing campaign and a difficult Big 12 campaign, it must.

Predictions from Cougar Insiders
Week’s question: Following spring practice, BYU did not name a starting quarterback. What are the benefits and drawbacks of not selecting a starting lineup for the 2024 campaign at this point in the season? Who do you think will get the ball rolling?
The main concern is who will start at quarterback in place of Kedon Slovis. Slovis led the Cougars to a 5-1 record early in the previous season before suffering an injury. A JC transfer named Jake Retzlaff took charge and faced a steep learning curve. Rebuilding BYU’s offensive line under new coach TJ Woods following Darrell Funk’s dismissal is equally difficult. The offensive line for BYU underperformed in the previous season and was a major contributor to the team’s offensive run-ball woes in its first Big 12 campaign.
