Now that he’s getting paid, Jacksonville’s pass rusher wants to make a lasting impression on the Jaguars.
Josh Allen is a part of the Jaguars’ long-term plans, they are making sure of it. According to prominent NFL source Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, Jacksonville and its star pass rusher have agreed to a five-year, $150 million contract. According to ESPN, the contract contains a guaranteed $88 million. According to OverTheCap.com, Allen is currently the third-highest paid defensive player in terms of annual salary.
Allen stated, “I’m very emotional right now,” during his Wednesday press conference. “The work is not yet finished. I want to convey that to the fan base. Even though I’m really fortunate and pleased to receive these paychecks, I still have to set goals for myself.”
With the deal, Allen will average $30 million year, which will put him behind defensive players Chris Jones ($31.75 million) of the Kansas City Chiefs and defensive lineman Nick Bosa ($34 million) of the San Francisco 49ers. According to ESPN, the Jaguars signed Allen to a contract after tagging him ahead of free agency. The agreement was arranged by WME Sports.
With 17.5 sacks the previous season, Allen set a franchise record for the Jaguars. In addition to earning him a second Pro Bowl nomination in 2023, his performance demonstrated why the Jaguars should make a long-term commitment to him. In his career, the 26-year-old has recorded 251 tackles, eight pass deflections, one defensive score, and 45 sacks. In 2019, Allen was chosen by the Jaguars with the seventh overall pick. After agreeing to a top-of-the-market contract, Allen has high expectations for his future career, but he believes he has the skill and motivation to reach them.

Allen remarked, “I told you I’m a legacy guy.” “I got to win a Super Bowl and be the MVP, as I told myself a long time ago. Till I get that, I won’t give up. That inspires me. That surpasses financial gains. My objective is to be MVP, so if I could pull that off and bring Jacksonville its first Super Bowl, I would be overjoyed.”
The Jaguars have signed free agents defensive tackle Arik Armstead, wide receiver Gabe Davis, safety Darnell Savage, and wide receiver Devin Duvernay. They have also finalized deals with linebacker Foye Oluokun and guard Ezra Cleveland.
