Jackson Powers-Johnson is’very much fascinated’ by the Dolphins, according to the report
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Miami Dolphins are “very much intrigued” by Oregon center Jackson Powers-Johnson and plan to invite him on a visit shortly.
In 2023, Powers-Johnson was awarded the Rimington Trophy, which goes to the best center in college football. The 6’3, 328-pound lineman caused extra excitement when, in January, he outperformed rival prospects in the Senior Bowl before leaving Mobile, Alabama, early.
Connor Williams was the Dolphins’ starting center in 2023 until he tore his ACL during the end of the year. Liam Eichenberg, a former second-round pick, took over, although he struggled and was far more at ease in his prior guard starts.
Nevertheless, Miami signed former Tennessee Titans center Aaron Brewer to a three-year contract in March after allowing Williams to reach free agency. Although Brewer has a wealth of experience at guard in his career, he is currently slated to start in the center of the Dolphins offensive line.
Powers-Johnson might take over at center and force Brewer to guard if the Dolphins selected him early in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Miami has the 21st overall pick in the first round, which might be too early for the center from Oregon. Powers-Johnson is projected to go 26th overall in the average mock draft, which places him a little later in the first round. However, the Dolphins aren’t expected to select again until No. 55 overall.
