Andrew McCutchen of the Pirates has accomplished an MLB milestone.
With a two-run home run against the Philadelphia Phillies in the top of the ninth inning, McCutchen became the 300th home run club member on April 14.
Pitcher Ricardo Pinto hit a home run, bringing the Pirates’ lead to 9-2. By the same score, the Pirates would prevail in the match.
“I would be negligent if I claimed not to be considering it,” McCutchen remarked following the match. McCutchen remarked, “The fans here are great, and they were good to me.” “To me, it seemed like a gift. Being able to do it here was pleasant.”
What number of athletes have 300 home runs?
The hero of the Pirates is the 160th player in MLB history to become a member of the exclusive group.
Last season, Andrew McCutchen was just short of accomplishing the feat when he suffered an Achilles injury in September that prematurely terminated his 2023 campaign. His final home run before No. 300 was on August 22, 2023, against the St. Louis Cardinals. He hit home run no. 299, taking pitcher Adam Wainwright deep.
The 2013 NL MVP and five-time All-Star, who re-signed with the Pirates in the winter, ended the previous campaign with 12 home runs in 122 games. In addition, he became the 12th player in Pirates history to surpass 2,000 career hits during the 2018–19 season.
