During the 2023–24 NBA regular season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were among the top teams in the Western Conference. Their loss against the Phoenix Suns placed them into the No. 3 seed in the postseason rankings, but their spot wasn’t decided until the very last day.
Interestingly enough, they will play the team that defeated them in the regular season finale in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs. The New Orleans Pelicans’ defeat at the Los Angeles Lakers allowed the Suns to secure the sixth spot.
The Timberwolves, who haven’t been successful against the Suns this season, face a difficult draw. The Minnesota players are aware that Phoenix prevailed over them in each of their meetings during the regular season.
When questioned about the team’s mentality going into the series, their star, Anthony Edwards, responded, “Figure out a way to beat Phoenix, because we ain’t been able to do it.” (Points of H/T Clutch)
Nor were the games especially close. Minnesota was unable to answer Phoenix and lost all three games by double digits. However, it hasn’t at all caused their confidence to falter.
Edwards expressed optimism that his squad will work things out in the postseason despite the regular season performance. Yes, without a doubt. Absolutely. The regular season is now gone, despite their three victories during it. We’ll be prepared because we have the postseason,” Edwards continued.
Because of their offensive firepower, the Suns are as dangerous as any team in the NBA Playoffs. Although they all have offensive potential, Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker share the court for Phoenix.
When it comes to trying to slow them down, the Timberwolves will have to choose their poison. It won’t be simple, as Durant’s power forward role will put Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert in Chris Finch’s two-big lineup to the test.
However, Edwards and his teammates are aware that it will happen. They must so focus on game planning and ways to put an end to it. “KD is played at the four.” As a result, we are put through a lot of rotations. Still, we’ll be prepared for anything.
One of the more interesting first-round matchups will be between the Timberwolves and the Suns. The NBA Postseason should begin with some fantastic games because both teams are quite good.
