The Rams’ acquisition of Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson this season has made the interior of the offensive line less of a draft priority. They still need depth inside, though, particularly after losing Tremayne Anchrum Jr. to free agency and releasing Brian Allen.
In the later rounds of the draft, Los Angeles may choose to select Auburn’s Avery Jones. The Rams are one of the clubs who have expressed interest in Jones, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network, who spoke with Jones during the pre-draft round.
Avery Jones: I’ve talked to a number of groups. The Chargers, Rams, Bengals, Cowboys, and a few more teams have been in contact with me. Several teams have expressed interest in working with me.
Jones, who weighs 317 pounds and is 6-foot-4, has played center and guard in the past. Although he has played center for the past three years, he claims to have heard from clubs who see him as a threat at both spots.
Because of the Rams’ affinity for versatile offensive linemen, he might be a Day 3 option or an undrafted free agent target.
