On their podcast, Chad Johnson and Shannon Sharpe discussed the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Kansas City Chiefs and concluded that, with Joe Burrow healthy, the Bengals can compete with the champions.
Here is the conversation between the Hall of Fame tight end and Johnson, a legendary Cincinnatian and recipient of the Ring of Honor:
Sharpe: Hmm.
Johnson: You know you have two minutes remaining and need to score, right?
Sharpe: In agreement.
Johnson: On our end, we also have a quarterback who can go get the job done and make the appropriate throws when they need to.
Sharpe: (vocal inflection) Hmm.
Johnson:… and make sure the ball stays in play. On defense, we’ve always had the supporting cast and players that complement each other well. That is how it is sometimes. You do realize that there’s always a team with your number?
Sharpe: Accurate.
Johnson went on to say that even though the Bengals had defeated the Chiefs 3-1, they still hadn’t been able to complete the task in the same manner. However, he made it apparent that if Burrow remains upright, all of that may change this season.
Assuming Joe Burrow is in good health, you already know what will happen. He said, “That AFC North is a wrap,” making matching hand motions.
The onus is now on the offensive line and the coaches to see to it that Burrow receives the necessary protection.
