Laila Phelia, a former star player for Michigan women’s basketball, has signed with Texas, the program announced on Monday.
As a junior this past season, Phelia led the Wolverines in scoring with 16.8 points per game, adding 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals. She was selected to the first team All-Big Ten.

The 6-foot-6 guard Phelia joins a Texas team that was predicted to be among the nation’s top-5 teams heading into the preseason. The Longhorns, who won the Big 12 tournament but lost in the Elite Eight the previous season, have Aaliyah Moore and Madison Booker back from injuries. Rori Harmon is also back. Jordan Lee and Justice Carlton are two more top-15 recruits that Schaefer is bringing in.
