Update on Jerome Baker’s injury: Dolphins linebacker is expected to return……………..
Linebacker Jerome Baker’s practice window has opened for the Miami Dolphins.
The eighth and last activation spot that the Miami Dolphins have for a player on injured reserve in 2023 has been used. Linebacker Jerome Baker will return to practice and start working toward his activation so he can participate again in games, head coach Mike McDaniel announced on Wednesday. The organization has not said whether or not Baker will be eligible for this Sunday’s Week 18 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but he might return to the 53-man roster as early as that.
The Dolphins have till their deadline of 21 days to decide on Baker’s status. He can be activated at any point during that window, but he will end up on the injured reserve (IR) for the duration of the season if he is not raised to the 53-man roster.
Following a knee injury sustained during the team’s Week 13 matchup against the Washington Commanders, Baker was placed on injured reserve at the beginning of December. When safety Brandon Jones tried to hit wide receiver Curtis Samuel in the second quarter, forcing him out of bounds, Baker was pursuing the receiver. During the play, Jones struck Baker’s legs, causing an injury to his medial collateral ligament.
Regarding Baker playing this weekend, McDaniel stated, “We have to get him out there and see how he responds.”
Calvin Munson, a linebacker, was signed by the Dolphins to fill in for Baker. The team would need to make room on the roster whenever they activated Baker. Munson might be the man.
