More signed as free agents; Kansas City selected Kinglsey Suamataia in the draft……………………….
This past weekend was the end of the NFL Draft. The Kansas City Chiefs selected Kingsley Suamataia of BYU in the first round. Despite multiple coaching changes at the offensive line, this selection ensured that BYU would take three left tackles in a row.
To get the 63rd pick and remove Suamataia from the draft, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach moved up with the San Francisco 49ers.
Andy Reid, a former BYU player, is the Chiefs’ coach and is the one who called Suamataia.
“After speaking with Coach Reid, I already felt at home.” similar to lounging around the house with one of my relatives, Suamataia remarked.
Suamataia will contend for the starting left tackle position right away. Suamataia is seen by the Chiefs as their left tackle of the future.
“I’m prepared. Naturally, I have to come in and study the playbook, but I’m prepared to go,” Suamataia said to the media.
Although there was a chance for a few other BYU players to be selected, none of them ended up having their names called.
With a strong showing at the NFL Combine and Senior Bowl, Slovis was hoping to smuggle himself into the later stages of the selection. In the end, Slovis decided to join with the Colts of Indianapolis.
The Cleveland Browns have signed Aiden Robbins to a contract. During the draft process, Robbins was visited by the Browns, who were quite fond of him. Before the draft was over, their general manager, Andrew Berry, made him a contract offer.
Ryan Rehkow, an All-Pro punter, joined Suamataia in Kansas City and inked a contract with the Chiefs.
Max Tooley of the Houston Texans and Isaac Rex of the Detroit Lions are the other players to ink contracts thus far.
The Denver Broncos extended an invitation to Eddie Heckard for a mini-camp. Deion Smith, AJ Vongphachanh, Jackson Cravens, Paul Maile, and Kamden Garrett are among the other players who participated in the Big 12 Pro-Day and are still vying for invites to mini-camps or free agency agreements.
