Through the transfer site, UCF added running back Peny Boone, who won MAC Offensive Player of the Year with Toledo last autumn, to further strengthen its offensive line.
Boone, who first moved to Louisville and worked out with the Cardinals in the spring, declared his commitment on Wednesday. In 2023, he ranked ninth in the US in yards from scrimmage (1,619) and eighth in rushing yards (1,400), with 15 touchdowns and 15 receptions.
The 6-foot-1, 242-pound player first used the transfer portal in December and returned on April 17. Before moving to Toledo, where he recorded 443 rushing yards in 2022, he began his career at Maryland, where he ran for 172 yards in 2021.
Detroit native Boone, who ranked 11th in the country in rushing average (107.7 yards per game), will be joining an Arkansas transfer quarterback, KJ Jefferson, at quarterback for UCF. In their second season in the Big 12, the Knights are led by running back RJ Harvey, who finished the previous season with 1,416 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns; they also have No. 2 wide receiver Kobe Hudson and other returning players.
