Playoff Setback for the Red Wings Continues to haunt Edvinsson………………….
The Detroit Red Wings defense prospect Simon Edvinsson is troubled by the adage “close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades,” even though he may not be aware of it.
He is back with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins, where as a top-pairing defenseman, he is contributing significantly to the team’s success in the Calder Cup playoffs. At the same time, Edvinsson still finds it unsettling to recall the Red Wings’ narrow escape from being a postseason team.
“Really honest response?” Edvinsson enquired. Naturally, I’m still bothered by it. It upsets me, of course. That was really the feeling of how near you could get.

After the Washington Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 with an empty-net goal late in the season finale, the Red Wings were eliminated via tiebreaker. The Flyers yanked their goalkeeper and went for it since they needed a win to get to the playoffs. They would ultimately lose that strategy, and the Red Wings would too.
Edvinsson acknowledges that it bothered him to go out that manner.
Even though Edvinsson still finds that brutal truth unsettling, he is trying to retain that as his primary focus by putting a new assignment on his schedule.
Regarding missing out on the NHL playoffs, he remarked, “There are still some thoughts about that, but I think that’s not something I think about during the games here.” I’m going to have to spend the summer concentrating on that.
“That’s going to be my summer project of choice.” All you need to do is bring that desire to improve and want to be better to the squad for next year up there. But for now, all that needs to be done is concentrate on the games and attempt to win each one.
Edvinsson Restoring NHL Education in GR
Edvinsson is prioritizing the Calder Cup over the Stanley Cup on his current to-do list now that he is back with the Griffins, where he played 54 AHL regular season games this season. The season ended so abruptly for Detroit that he and center Austin Czarnik were headed back to Grand Rapids. They were joining Jonatan Berggren, the forward, there. There were a few weeks left in the NHL season when he was sent down.

Edvinsson acknowledges that he needs to make some modifications in light of the step back.
Naturally, but they’re only little ones,” Edvinsson remarked. “This isn’t your typical hockey.” Naturally, the difference between the NHL and AHL is due to their distinct tempos.
Nevertheless, he is happy to be playing again. This is Edvinsson’s first year playing professional hockey in the North American playoffs.
Naturally, there was a lot of excitement, according to Edvinsson. “Here, you want to have a lengthy postseason run. The shift is a little challenging at first. However, you fight through it.
“I spent one and a half to two months up in Detroit. Reversing course is a little bit different. It’s hockey. It is what it is. All you can do is handle it.
