Kentucky did not appear in the Way-Too-Early Top-25 on On3.
When the 2024–25 season begins, where will the Wildcats be ranked?
Although Mark Pope and his staff were there at the Kentucky Derby this past weekend, they are again back on the recruiting path, hoping to add more athletes to the 2024–25 team.
The Wildcats are adding a fantastic combination of scorers and lockdown defenders, and the roster is starting to come together very nicely. This Kentucky basketball squad will be made of mostly of seasoned players because collegiate basketball these days is a team sport.
The Wildcats were not included in On3’s Way-Too-Early Top-25 rankings, which were released recently. The Razorbacks from Arkansas weren’t either. This might be related to the small number of players on the rosters of these two teams.
The staff is still adding depth to the roster so Kentucky can have good players coming off the bench, even if the team’s starters are probably all on it at this time. When the whole team is together, I’ll be curious to see if the Wildcats are ranked in their preseason Top 25.
Even if Coach Pope’s roster isn’t complete yet, it’s difficult to ignore the possibility that this squad, with so many players who have participated in the Big Dance, will succeed in the NCAA Tournament.
The national media may not agree with Coach Pope’s roster decisions just yet, but this squad is gelling quickly and will be a strong contender in the SEC. Coach Pope will assemble a strong team for Kentucky in his first season in the position.
