COLORADO AVALANCHE: “The Target Is High And It’s At His Head,” Says Team in Reaction To Toews’ Hit
On social media both during and after Game Two, there were numerous concerns over the officiating. I think it’s fair to say that the better team won the game, at least in my opinion. Some of it may have been a touch over the top, but some of it was definitely justified. Furthermore, the Colorado Avalanche was not that team.
Colorado’s second period was just not good enough, even though their first quarter wasn’t all that horrible. The Avalanche managed to overcome a few sluggish starts against Winnipeg, but the level of competition is increasing. Now more than ever, you can’t doze off while driving, and Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar stated as much.
Jamie Benn’s strike on Devon Toews was a significant incident throughout that second period. The Avalanche defenseman was forced to leave the game due to concussion protocol, but he was able to come back. Benn received a significant assessment, but he was exonerated upon review. After the game, Bednar shared his thoughts on the hit.
After the Avalanche lost 5-3 to the Stars, hear forward Andrew Cogliano speak, and read what Cale Makar and Bednar had to say.
