Preview of Spring Football: The Cowboys’ Offence Will Shine with a Returned Wide Receiver Corps
The veteran offensive group, which will receive a great deal of help from its wide receiving corps, should perform well for the Cowboys.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are a seasoned squad with a strong core of returning players. The Cowboys should be able to create a lot of noise in the redesigned Big 12 for this reason, among other reasons.
The wide receiver position is among the position groupings that stands to gain the most from the abundance of returning talent. Leon Johnson III, who burnt his redshirt halfway through the season while the club was dealing with injuries, was sadly unable to stay with the team.
Nevertheless, as Oklahoma State’s offence looks to set the bar for a season full of promise, the position will remain vital.
Brennan Presley, the starting slot wide receiver for the Cowboys, is among the most dependable receivers they have seen in recent years. In his four years, he has amassed 2,548 receiving yards; last season, he added 991 receiving yards on 101 receptions. He has been a vital component of the scheme for the past three seasons and is expected to be the offense’s primary option.
Starting wide outs Rashod Owens and De’Zhaun Stribling will both be with Presley. Last season, both players had significant plays; however, Stribling’s season was ended by an injury.
Throughout his collegiate football career, Owens has been a member of Stillwater, and his most recent season was marked by an upsurge in output. When the offence starts to stalemate, the MVP of the Texas Bowl will provide quarterback Alan Bowman with another trustworthy wide receiver who can make huge play after big play.
As previously noted, Stribling missed the previous season despite playing in just four games. After coming in from Washington State, he showed promise for the season with 198 receiving yards on 14 catches.
Presley is swift, and Owens and Stribling offer size on the outside. The backup receiver with the most features is probably Talyn Shettron. His best performance came against West Virginia in the one conference game he recorded a state last season, when he was somewhat featured in the non-conference games. In the game against the Mountaineers, he caught three receptions for 36 yards. He makes a difference off the bench, so the local talent can keep growing.
