For a considerable amount of time, the Texas Longhorns have dominated the collegiate football landscape. But they have been coming closer and closer to their ultimate objective of taking home a national championship over the past few years.
Once Steve Sarkisian assumed the position of head coach, he has recruited exceptionally well. He has not only been successful in attracting talented high school students, but he has also made good use of the transfer portal market. The Longhorns currently have a very bright future ahead of them.
Having said that, one of the Longhorns’ top prospects from the 2025 recruiting class is a decision away, and the team is eager to hear from them.
James Simon, a running back from Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana, is that prospect. Simon himself has reported that he will make his decision about where to take his talents public on May 29. The Longhorns can’t wait for that day to arrive.
The Texas Longhorns now have an 81.4 percent confidence rating in Simon according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Even though the grade is excellent, Simon must still decide for himself.
Numerous teams across the country have expressed interest in Simon, a four-star recruit in the 2025 class. He is still thinking about Alabama, Texas A&M, LSU, Notre Dame, and the Longhorns. Those four institutions are formidable establishments that give Simon something to ponder.
He is the 9th best running back in the class and the 150th best prospect in the country. Simon is ranked fourth overall in his home state of Louisiana.
The Longhorns have three chances to win Simon’s pledge according to 247Sports. Still, four predictions have been made for the LSU Tigers. Fans are concerned that he might ultimately decide not to commit to Texas because of that alone.
Having said all of that, it will be intriguing to watch if the Longhorns can get Simon’s pledge. He would be a valuable addition to a talented backfield that has always existed. On May 29th, hopefully, they will receive some positive news.
