Toronto chose a big man and a winger in The Athletic’s most recent mock draft.
The Toronto Raptors’ 2024 NBA Draft Lottery experience was not favourable.
They were compelled to give up their 2024 first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs as part of the Jakob Poeltl trade after it fell to No. 8.
If their choice had been among the top six, the Raptors would have kept it.
Ping pong balls were used against the Raptors, who had a 45.8% chance of keeping their selection.
There will now be just two draft picks available to the Raptors in this year’s edition. They own the No. 19 of the Indiana Pacers and the No. 31 of the Detroit Pistons.
Toronto can yet look for some untapped potential at these areas.
Sam Vecenie of The Athletic produced his most current mock draft following the NBA Draft Lottery results, in which the Raptors selected a big man and a wing.
According to Vecenie, the Raptors will take Yves Missi from Baylor at number 19. At seven feet five inches, he is a real seven-footer. Missi has a fantastic frame and connects on lob finishes in transition. In defence, he is a dependable shot blocker who can stick with guards. Missi scored 10.7 points per game on average, with 61 percent of her points coming from the field. He was chosen for the Big 12 All-Defense team as a rookie. He reminds Vecenie of a big man in the NBA, similar to Clint Capela. The Raptors may require some big man depth behind Jakob Poeltl after releasing Christian Koloko due to a blood clot issue.
Ryan Dunn, a 6-8 wing from Virginia, will be selected by the Raptors at No. 31 by Vecenie. Dunn had 8.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game on average in 2023–2024. 53.2 percent of his foul shots, 20.0 percent of his three-pointers, and 54.8 percent of his field goals were all made by him. He would give the Raptors some more depth at the wing position and be a fantastic pick in the second round.
In the NBA Draft Lottery for 2024, the Raptors are almost guaranteed the first pick.
