Arkansas’s Washington County Arrest documents indicate that UCF quarterback KJ Jefferson was taken into custody on Wednesday in Arkansas.
Online records from Washington County, Arkansas state that the 22-year-old transfer from Arkansas was taken into custody at 2:13 p.m. and released 21 minutes later.
A simple misdemeanor, “MISD COMM,” is the charge against him. For further information, FOX 35 has gotten in touch with the Fayetteville Police Department.
According to information obtained by FOX 35, the accusation is related to an alleged May 2023 speeding and reckless driving incident that occurred before he transferred to UCF. To advance the case, he apparently left for Arkansas on Tuesday and turned himself in on Wednesday.
Gus Malzahn, the head coach, made the following statement to FOX 35:
“This incident occurred in May 2023, and I was well aware of it before he came to UCF. KJ has been an excellent leader and model participant in our program ever since he arrived.”
On Wednesday afternoon, Jefferson shared his thoughts about the incident on his Instagram Story. He claimed he was in Fayetteville for a court appearance and that he had been given a three-day community service mandate.
“You see my mugshot and everything because of that. Why they did all that stuff for community service is beyond me. But in the video, Jefferson stated that’s what actually occurred. “The ticket was for speeding. Only because I had court and needed to pay my fine and other related expenses for speeding did I return to Fayetteville. Furthermore, I fully accept responsibility for my deeds. You understand what I mean. All of the extra material about “KJ did this” and him—all of the stories you’re trying to spread—isn’t true, dude. Okay. My speeding ticket was issued.”
