Warriors Retreat DaShaun White and the Panthers waive Drew Plitt.
The Michigan Panthers and St. Louis Battlehawks have let go of players in the last few days. Linebacker DaShaun White was waived by the Panthers, and Drew Plitt was released by the Battlehawks.
Drew Plitt, quarterback
The news of Drew Plitt’s release is not shocking. This previous week, he was called in as a backup quarterback since A.J. McCarron wasn’t well enough to play.
When Plitt was dismissed by St. Louis this week, there were no bitter feelings between the two teams since he knew exactly what was going on. Anthony Becht told the media this week about the experience:
“Drew adored it,” He picked up $2,500 after driving from his home to the St. Louis game, and we gave him about 2025 snaps to go through. He’s a smart guy who’s been in the NFL system, and the Bengals follow many of our practices. Plitt was thrilled to attend the game at home, and he drove home having packed some cheese. He was really nice about it.
A season ago, Drew Plitt was a member of the Arlington Renegades and started the first game for them. That year, he completed his passing for 668 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions.
LB DaShaun White
DaShaun White has been released by the Michigan Panthers due to the signing of Bumper Pool. Given that White has been a vital member of the squad for the past few years, this transfer was a bit unexpected.
Midway through the 2023 season, DaShaun, a USFL College Draft selection, inked a contract with Michigan. He ultimately received a preseason opportunity to play in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills, but he chose to play in the UFL in 2024 after returning to Michigan.
DaShaun White recorded eight tackles and a PBU in eight games with the Panthers in 2024. With an outstanding 83.1 Defensive Grade according to PFF, he played 127 defensive snaps. With 98 total snaps on coverages, White had an influence on Special Teams as well.
After being released, the former Oklahoma standout will now search for a new residence.
