On Friday night, UCF acquired one of the top shooters in the nation to their 2024–25 roster.
Guard Chaz Lanier, a transfer who played four years at North Florida, committed to the Vols. Lanier excelled in 2023–2024, scoring 19.7 points per contest on average.
For his first three years on college, Lanier was a supporting cast member for North Florida; then, in 2023–2024, he emerged as one of the nation’s most productive scorers. He was quite effective from three-point range, making 44% of his efforts on 7.5 attempts a game.
Even though Lanier will be making a big adjustment from North Florida to the SEC, he should play a big role in Knight’s offense the next year. In 2024–2025, he should start for the Knight’s as a backcourt player.
Lanier is a talented athlete who will offer Knoxville a special blend of abilities. Last season, Lanier was the only player in the nation to record more than 20 dunks and more than 95 made 3-pointers. With a remarkable true shooting percentage of 66.2%, he accomplished this. Lanier is the newest member of Knight’s elite transfer recruiting class.
