Dear Grambling State Family and the larger community,
I am saddened to inform you of the unfortunate death of one of our own. Andre Crews, a newly committed running back with a promising future, is currently in critical condition after a gunshot. This tragic occurrence has placed a veil over our town, and we are all dealing with the shock and grief of this senseless crime.
First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with Andre and his family at this extremely difficult time. Andre came to Grambling State with the goal of excelling on the football field, receiving a quality education, and becoming a proud ambassador of our college. He exemplifies the spirit of resilience, determination, and ambition that distinguishes our student athletes.
Andre’s family, please know that the whole Grambling State community supports you. We are here to offer our encouragement, strength, and prayers. This university is more than simply an educational institution; it is a family, and we are determined to do everything we can to help during this difficult time.
This occurrence serves as a sharp reminder to our students, faculty, and staff about the unpredictable nature of life, as well as the value of community and support. We must band together to support Andre, his family, and one another. Let us transform our sadness into solidarity, our suffering into support, and our fear into a determination to make our community a safer place for all.
The Grambling State University administration, in collaboration with local law enforcement, is fully dedicated to ensuring that justice is served and that our campus is a safe environment for all students. We are working directly with authorities to thoroughly investigate this situation, and we will keep the community updated as more information becomes available.
In times like this, it is critical to rely on one another. Let us band together to support Andre Crews and his family, console those affected, and reaffirm our dedication to the safety and well-being of our whole community. We shall survive this catastrophe and emerge stronger.
