Dear Toronto Maple Leafs Family and Community.
As I sit down to write this letter, I am overcome with thanks and admiration for the great trip we have taken together. My tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs has been one with remarkable experiences, difficulties, and successes. I’d want to use this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has participated in this incredible event.
Thank you, coaches, for your constant counsel and support. Your passion to the team and drive for success have been a constant source of inspiration. You have pushed me to be the best version of myself, both on and off the ice, for which I am eternally thankful. The things I learned under your mentoring will stick with me throughout my career and life.
To my teammates, you are more than just teammates; you are brothers. Our friendship is one-of-a-kind and indestructible, having been built over countless hours of hard labor, sacrifice, and determination. We’ve faced hardships and celebrated wins together, always there to support one another. I am proud to skate with such a great and passionate group of people.
To the fans, your enthusiasm and support are the heartbeat of our squad. Your cheers in the stands, your everlasting faith in us, and your never-ending energy have motivated us to strive for greatness every day. Playing in front of the world’s best fans is an honor, and I am grateful for the love and passion you bring to each game.
Thank you to the entire Toronto community for accepting me and making this place seem like home. The generosity of local businesses, schools, and families has been wonderful. Toronto is a great place, and I am delighted to represent it both on and off the ice.
As I look forward to the future, I carry the passion and pride of being a Toronto Maple Leaf. I am pleased to be a part of this legendary franchise and dynamic community. Together, we will continue to strive for greatness and create amazing moments.
Thank you for the fantastic journey and for being the best fans a footballer could hope for. I am and will always be pleased to wear blue and white.
With sincere gratitude,
Auston Matthews
