Maryland football: Game times and TV schedules published for the first couple weeks
The Terps will start the season with two consecutive home games.
Mike Locksley will begin his sixth season as head coach of the Maryland football program this fall. The timetable that he and the Terps will confront is beginning to take shape.
Kickoff times and television schedules for early-season games in the Big Ten and across the country were announced Thursday afternoon.
Maryland’s season opener at home against UConn will begin at noon on August 31 on FOX Sports 1. The Terps’ Week 2 home game versus Michigan State will tip off at 3:30 p.m. on September 7 on Big Ten Network.
Maryland’s Week 3 matchup against old ACC foe Virginia will start at 8 p.m. on September 14 and will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
Maryland has previously announced one game, an 8 p.m. Friday Night Lights opener versus Northwestern on FOX on October 11.
The opening spread for Maryland’s Week 1 matchup versus the Huskies was released earlier this week, with the Terps listed as 24.5-point favorites. Jim Mora is in his third year as head coach at UConn, an FBS independent club.
In 2022, Mora led the Huskies to their first bowl game since 2015. Last season, however, the Huskies lost their first five games and finished 3-9.
Michigan State will be led by new head coach Jonathan Smith, who has spent the previous six seasons turning around Oregon State. Maryland has won two straight games against the Spartans, 31-9 last season and 27-13 in 2022.
The Terps are just 4-10 all-time versus Michigan State, but they’ve got the Spartans’ number lately. Maryland will play at Michigan State in 2025, but it will be their final encounter until 2028, when the Big Ten enters its 18-team, division-free era.
