Kentucky has a top five transfer portal class.
Pope has also brought the most transfers into the country.
When Mark Pope took over as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, he had virtually no players on his roster and had to start from scratch.
However, with so few high school players left, Pope had to use the transfer link to create his first squad in Lexington.
In fact, Pope has the most transfers this summer, with nine overall for the 2024-25 season.
247 Sports recently revealed their transfer portal class rankings, and the Wildcats ranked fourth overall following the addition of Jaxson Robinson.
“Kentucky added another huge transfer pickup as a result of the NBA Draft withdrawal deadline, when former BYU wing Jaxson Robinson decided to accompany head coach Mark Pope to the Wildcats in 2024-25. Kentucky now has nine incoming transfers, all but one of whom are four-star prospects, as it works to build a roster. The Wildcats had more four-star transfers than any other college basketball program this cycle.
Brandon Garrison, a 6-foot-11, 245-pound big man who shone as a true freshman at Oklahoma State last season, is the haul’s highlight. Lamont Butler Jr., a former San Diego State point guard, and Otega Oweh, a former Oklahoma wing, are also among the Wildcats’ top-50 transfers. The start of a new age in Lexington looks hopeful.”
In terms of the other three teams ahead of the Cats, John Calipari and Arkansas are ranked first, followed by Indiana and Rick Pitino’s St. John’s.
