The Miami Hurricanes football program is well-represented on the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame ballot. The Hall of Fame ballot includes national championship head coach Larry Coker, title-winning and two-time Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback Ken Dorsey, double national champion linebacker Darrin Smith, and All-American safety Sean Taylor.
Coker went 60-15 in six seasons at Miami, winning one national championship and finishing second, before moving on to coach at Texas-San Antonio. After succeeding Butch Davis in 2001, Coker became the first rookie head coach to win a national championship since 1948. Miami finished 35-3 throughout Coker’s first two seasons. Coker won his first 24 games as head coach.
Dorsey is the most successful quarterback in Miami Hurricanes history. Miami went 38-2 with Dorsey as their starting quarterback. Dorsey led Miami to 34 straight victories between 2000 and 2002. This is the fourth-longest winning streak in college football history.
Dorsey had the Miami career passing yardage record of 9,565 yards until being surpassed by Brad Kaaya in 2016. Dorsey still maintains the Miami career record, with 86 touchdown throws and 88 TDs. Dorsey won the Maxwell Award in 2001 and was a nominee for the Heisman Trophy in 2001 and 2002.
Taylor was named second-team All-Big East in 2002. Taylor earned the Jack Tatum Trophy in 2003, was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year, was a unanimous All-American, and made first-team All-Big East. Taylor finished his Miami career fourth, with 14 interceptions.
Coker, Dorsey, Smith, and Taylor helped Miami win three national championships. All four are University of Miami Hall of Fame inductees. Eight Miami players and four coaches have already been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
