The expanded 12-team College Football Playoff will debut in 2024–25, offering spectators high-stakes games as early as December 20.
The first round will start on December 20 at 8 p.m. ET and continue on December 21 at 12 p.m., 4 p.m., and 8 p.m., respectively.
Ten days later, on December 31, the quarterfinal gets underway with the Fiesta Bowl at 7:30 p.m. The Peach, Rose, and Sugar Bowls follow on January 1 at 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 8:45 p.m., respectively. Ultimately, on January 20 at 7:30 p.m. ET, the national championship game will take place to wrap up the season.
The playoffs will conclude a few weeks later this year than in previous years due to the expansion. The national championship match between Michigan and Washington was played on January 8 of the previous season; however, this year’s match will take place 12 days after the 2023–24 season.
There are lots of exciting bowl games to watch this season, even though the new CFP format is the primary plot point. There’s nothing quite like bowl season, from the Pop-Tarts Bowl with its edible mascot to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl that culminates with a coach coated in mayonnaise.
