Reversing course Once more, Rashad Amos has reconsidered.
Three weeks after he first declared his plan to transfer to Colorado, the former Miami-Ohio standout said on Saturday that he will now attend Mississippi.
Amos, who ran for 1,075 yards and 13 touchdowns at Miami-Ohio last season, switched his commitment from Mississippi State to CU on April 26 after initially committing to Mississippi State on April 13.
Amos remarked on X, “I’d like to thank everybody for the support.” “This is not something for the weak of heart.” I want to express my gratitude to each and every coach who has supported me along this process. Thank you so much for that. On or off the field, finding the right match is a difficult endeavor. So far, I’ve had a lot on my mind. Having said that, I would like to withdraw my commitment to Colorado.
He declared his allegiance to Ole Miss ten minutes later. Before moving to Miami-Ohio last year, Amos started his career at South Carolina, where he played for the Gamecocks for three seasons (2020–22).
The Buffs’ experience at running back this offseason has been a wild ride.
The five running backs on scholarships from the previous season are gone, with the exception of Anthony Hankerson, who went to Oregon State last winter, and Kavosiey Smoke, who graduated. Then, last month, Sy’veon Wilkerson, Dylan Edwards, and Alton McCaskill IV all quit the program. Wilkerson arrived at Georgia State, McCaskill at Arizona State, and Edwards at Kansas State.
Micah Welch, a true freshman who enrolled early in January at CU, is the sole scholarship running back left from the spring. The Buffs have also signed incoming freshman Brandon Hood, awarded a scholarship to walk-on Charlie Offerdahl, and welcomed Ohio State transfer Dallan Hayden in recent weeks.
