As the top-ranked prospect in the class of 2024, safety Brandon Jacob, a four-star recruit out of Evans High School in Orlando, Florida, committed to play football for the University of Maryland on Thursday night.
Jacob, the first safety and 16th player in his class to pledge to Maryland, picked the Terps over UCF, Texas A&M, Miami, and other schools. On June 16, he paid College Park an official visit. In 2021, Maryland became the first university to make an offer to Jacob.
Jacob is ranked as the nation’s No. 164 overall prospect and 13th-best safety by 247Sports Composite. His aggregate rating of.9324 is the highest for a commit from Maryland since wide receiver Shaleak Knotts and linebacker Jaishawn Barham joined the Terps in 2022.
