Vegas Golden Knights Sign Defenseman Noah Hanifin to an Eight-Year Contract Extension.
VEGAS (April 11, 2024) Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon announced today, April 11, that defenseman Noah Hanifin has signed an eight-year contract extension at an average yearly salary of $7,350,000.
Hanifin, 27, has appeared in 16 games for the Golden Knights since his acquisition on March 6. He has nine points (2 G, 7 A). Hanifin has a +7 rating in Vegas, and his two goals and 23:02 average TOI top the team’s defensemen. In 77 games between Calgary and Vegas this season, he has 44 points (13 G, 31 A), four shy of tying his career high from 2021-22. The 6-foot-3 defenseman has scored at least 40 points for the second time in his career, in 2023-24. Hanifin has 13 goals this season, the most he has ever scored in the NHL, with five coming on the power play.
Hanifin is in his tenth season on the League and has 283 points (62 goals, 221 assists) in 675 games. Earlier this season, Hanifin led Calgary’s defenseman in scoring with 35 points (11 G, 24 A) and a +13 rating after appearing in all 61 games. Prior to joining the Flames, the Boston native played 239 games for the Carolina Hurricanes, scoring 83 points (18 goals, 65 assists).
