Caitlin Clark breaks the single-season Indiana Fever record in only 20 games.
Breaking records appears to be Caitlin Clark’s hobby at this point. In her case, breaking a record appears to be a matter of when rather than if. She was the same way about the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Caitlin Clark is already on track to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award, and she’s breaking Indiana Fever rookie records at a furious pace. In the Fever’s 88-82 victory over the Phoenix Mercury, Clark set a single-season record. Caitlin Clark has already shattered the Indiana Fever’s single-season rookie assist record after only 20 games. Julie Allemand previously held this record.
Caitlin Clark has 138 assists in 20 games and is on pace for 276 total assists. She is currently third in the WNBA in assists per game, at 6.9. Clark is accumulating these assists while also averaging 16.2 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 34.3 minutes of play. She shoots 39.4% from the field, 34.6% from three (No. 19 in the WNBA), and 88% from the free-throw line (No. 9).
The Indiana Fever’s most recent victory has helped them jump back into the postseason picture after struggling tremendously for the previous two years, landing them Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. The next game is a Tuesday night clash in Las Vegas versus the Aces at 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
