Greetings, Mountaineer Nation.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for all of your amazing support and love as I think back on my time at West Virginia University. I am writing this letter to you from the bottom of my heart, thanking the WVU community, my teammates, coaches, and our loyal supporters.
I had a strong sense of belonging as soon as I stepped onto the field at Milan Puskar Stadium. My progress as a player and a person has been fueled by the enthusiasm, fervor, and steadfast support of Mountaineer Nation. Your encouragement, words of support, and belief in me from the stands have motivated me to give every game my all.
I am grateful to the WVU coaching staff and administration for giving me the chance to don the Mountaineer jersey. Your career-shaping advice, mentorship, and dedication to quality have been invaluable. Coach Brown, your guidance and faith in my potential have motivated me to surpass my boundaries and aspire for excellence. I will always be appreciative of the connections I made and the things I learnt here.
You are my brothers, my teammates. We have overcome obstacles, rejoiced in successes, and made enduring memories together. This team’s cohesiveness and friendship have made my time at WVU incredibly unique. It is a privilege for me to have performed with people who are so gifted and committed.
And thank you to all of the fans—the beating heart of Mountaineer Nation—for your steadfast support. We could feel your passion and presence whether we were performing at home or on the road. Your devotion to us and your sense of pride in our group has always inspired me.
I take with me the knowledge, insights, and recollections from my time at WVU as I look to the future. I am honored to be a member of this amazing community and will always treasure the times we have spent together. I am grateful to you for being the best college football fans, for believing in me, and for allowing me to grow.
As Always a Mountaineer,
C.J. Donaldson
