Triple-star quarterback Nolan Keeney commits to BYU.
WHOOM. Three-star Nolan Keeney is now the quarterback for BYU in 2025.
For the 2025 recruiting class, BYU has been in need of a quarterback, and today they have one. Nolan Keeney of Tualatin High School declared his intent to attend BYU. Despite offers from Houston, Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, and a few other schools, the three-star quarterback decided to enroll with the Cougars. He is currently rated 86th overall and the 46th best quarterback prospect in the class of 2025.

Keeney has a lot of promise. His 215-pound, 6-4 frame is still expanding. His skill as a passer is continuously growing and improving daily. His technique and ability to push the ball downfield will allow him to advance as he gains more muscle mass. He can make massive throws down the field and possesses better-than-real athleticism and a strong arm. Keeney is only beginning to scratch the surface of the player he can become, despite checking off many quarterback boxes.
He had a great start to the junior campaign, but a collarbone injury sidelined him for several months. Even though he wasn’t nearly fully recovered, he managed to return to the field for Tualatin’s playoff run. Keeney returned to the field, and Tualatin progressed to the championship game and became a serious contender for the state title. At that point, Keeney’s collarbone grew worse, forcing him to exit the game. When he got out, Tualtin was unable to keep up.
For BYU, what does that mean? Keeney is a gamer, according to this. His arrival gave his club the impetus to contend for a championship. His arm and legs possess the kind of talent that can carry an entire offense. BYU is adding players of that caliber to their quarterbacking staff.
Although Keeney is rated higher than most of the quarterbacks in this class, BYU nevertheless pursued a few of them. His position rating is higher than former BYU targets like Grady Adamson, Luke Carney, Shaker Reisig, and JP Mialovski, despite the fact that his total rating of 86 is the same.
Keeney belongs to the Latter-day Saint Church of Jesus Christ. His mission plans aren’t finalized as of yet. After high school, he had the option of immediately pursuing a mission or beginning his college football career. He will have the opportunity to start making an impact and gaining early playing time if he enrolls at BYU in 2025. If nothing changes, McCae Hillstead, Treyson Bourguet, a walk-on, and senior Jake Retzlaff will be in BYU’s quarterback room next season. Although BYU will add walk-ons and may still add a player through the portal, Keeney appears to have a shot to find the field and make an early mark.
